It’s nice to see the latest entrant in the streaming wars getting support, and for those of you who are interested in streaming some Law & Order (though not all of it) you’ll at least have options for watching it other than your phone or computer....

Starting today, anyone with a Google account can use the integrated platform (formerly known as G Suite) to collaborate on the search giant’s productivity apps. The service essentially provides a more integrated system for using the likes of Gmail, Chat, Calendar, Drive, and Docs. It’s not likely to revolutionize your user experience, but it will allow you to access Google apps in one central spot, rather than having to jump between them....

According to KnowYourMeme, several public Facebook groups were being banned after a single member joined and began flooding them with non-standard-compliant images, then reporting the groups in order to get them banned. Most of the groups being targeted appear to be meme or “shitposting” groups, with one of the biggest being Crossovers Nobody Asked For, which has hundreds of thousands of members and still hasn’t come back at the time of writing....

A smart ventilation system is being trialled on Barcelona’s metro network to maximize fresh air, regulate temperature and humidity and help stop the spread of coronavirus. Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) is piloting the RESPIRA system from SENER Engineering. The artificial intelligence (AI) platform reads the temperature, humidity, air quality and electricity consumption in metro stations in real-time. An algorithm combines this data with information such as the weather forecast and expected occupancy levels to predict environmental conditions at the stations and accordingly program the operation of each fan to regulate temperature and energy consumption....

While the majority of those in the crowd may not have grasped its true meaning, or been in the frame of mind to understand it, it was a significant moment. A popular rock band publicly endorsed climate research and literally put it centre stage. The climate stripes illustrate the global average temperature for every year since 1850 in the form of a colored stripe. Shades of blue represent cooler years and red, warmer years....

Now, a company named Shortwave, formed by ex-Google employees, is trying to bring it back. Before we talk about what they’re trying to do, let’s take a trip down memory lane. Why was Inbox killed? Inbox was great at what it did: streamlining emails. This included best-in-class categorization, intuitive email pinning, a clean interface, and features like bundles that grouped messages from one sender. While Google brought some of these features to the main app, it just isn’t as good as Inbox....

Word around the web is WhatsApp is slated to get not one, but two different dark mode options on iPhones… sometime in the future. The company is also working on a dark theme for Android, but there’s no mention of when that might land either. But if you want dark mode on WhatsApp’s web version, there’s a way to do it.
